What Does 2030 Have to Do with It? Infantino Sends Stirring Message to Morocco
Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), sent a message to the Moroccan national team after their impressive run in the 2026 World Cup.
The Atlas Lions' journey in the World Cup ended at the quarter-final stage, after a 2-0 defeat to the French national team.
Infantino wrote on his Instagram account a message to the Moroccan national team, saying: "Your journey was full of wonderful moments, and you gave your football-loving country a lot of joy."
He added: "The ten goals you scored in this tournament, which is your highest goal tally in a single World Cup edition, helped you become the first African national team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals on two occasions."
The FIFA President noted: "As always, it was a pleasure to host you, and we look forward to welcoming you again and enjoying your hospitality and warmth in 2030."
Morocco will host the 2030 World Cup finals in a joint organization with Spain and Portugal.
The Moroccan national team finished as runners-up in Group 3 of the 2026 World Cup with 7 points, after drawing with Brazil and beating Scotland and Haiti.
In the round of 32, Morocco managed to overcome the Netherlands on penalties, before a 3-0 win over Canada in the round of 16, then elimination against France in the quarter-finals.
