Apple is preparing to reintroduce Siri at the upcoming WWDC 2026 conference, a step that comes after years of the company lagging behind its competitors in the AI race.

Apple had announced a major update to Siri in 2024 under an initiative called 'Apple Intelligence,' but it did not deliver on its promises at the time, forcing the company to recently settle a class-action lawsuit over the delayed rollout of features.

Today, Apple's new direction relies on integrating Siri with Google Gemini technologies, which have become a standard for practical AI in many everyday applications such as ride-hailing or task management.

Although Gemini preceded Siri in offering advanced features, users' relationship with AI remains complex, with growing caution over privacy and some users worried about smart assistants accessing their personal information.

According to leaks, Siri will soon be presented with a greater presence in the system, possibly appearing within the Dynamic Island and perhaps as a standalone app for the first time, in addition to integration with the Photos app and other broad features.

Apple is likely to focus on privacy through technologies such as 'private cloud computing' and options to automatically delete conversations.

Amid criticism directed at its competitors for imposing AI functions across all apps, Apple may turn its previous slowness into an advantage by offering the new Siri as a safer and more private option.

But this time, Apple will have no room for more stumbles, as users expect Siri to deliver a real and effective experience that competes with other smart assistants in the market.
