China's National Data Administration plans to create approximately 120,000 high-quality data sets as part of a strategy to strengthen AI infrastructure and provide reliable data to meet the growing demand for smart application development.

The administration, according to the Xinhua News Agency, stated that the total volume of high-quality data sets in the fields of scientific research, manufacturing, and healthcare exceeded 1,565 petabytes by the end of last June, an increase of more than 60% compared to the end of the first quarter of this year, equivalent to about 547 times the total digital resources of the National Library of China.

Meanwhile, seven leading Chinese cities in data documentation, including Chengdu, Shenyang, Hefei, and Changsha, have recorded remarkable growth.

The volume of documented data in these cities exceeded 119 petabytes, while the number of workers in data documentation and classification fields rose to approximately 140,000.
