Samsung this month began rolling out the July 2026 security update for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 7, making them the first devices from the company to receive the update before smartphones and tablets, an unusual step within the company's typical update policy.

The new update has started reaching users in South Korea, initially covering the Bluetooth-only versions of the two watches, with LTE versions to follow later.

The Galaxy Watch 8 update is approximately 170 MB with build number L330XXS2AZF4, while the Galaxy Watch 7 update is about 165 MB with build number L310XXS2BZF4, according to Galaxy Alerts.

Samsung has not yet disclosed details of the security vulnerabilities addressed by the new update, as the company usually publishes a list of fixes after the update is available for most devices. These updates often include fixes for several security issues to improve protection and privacy.

The new update can be installed via the Galaxy Wearable app by going to the watch settings, then the watch software update option, and selecting 'Download and install'.
