Samsung is preparing to unveil the new generation of its foldable phones at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, with the past week seeing a full leak of the specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, along with official images confirming the design direction of the two devices.

The device comes with a wider design than previous generations, with a main screen measuring 7.6 inches with a resolution of 1848 × 2448 pixels and an aspect ratio of 4:3, along with an external screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1248 × 1972 pixels.

Both screens are Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

The main rear camera is 50 megapixels (F1.8), and a wide camera also 50 megapixels (F1.9), and it has two front cameras of 10 megapixels each, one for each screen.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, and comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, with higher options up to 16GB RAM and 1TB capacity.

The device supports 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0, in addition to a USB-C port.

The battery capacity is 4800 mAh with support for 45W fast charging, and it weighs 201 grams with IP48 water and dust resistance rating, and is available in four colors: Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and Pistachio.

The device has an external screen measuring 6.5 inches (1080 × 2520 pixels) and a larger internal screen measuring 8 inches (2256 × 2504 pixels) with Dynamic AMOLED 2X support and a 120Hz refresh rate. The design is thinner, with a thickness of just 4.1 mm when unfolded and weighs 218 grams.

The optical system here is more powerful, with a 200MP main camera (OIS, F1.7), a 50MP wide lens (F1.9), and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and optical stabilization, and it comes with two front cameras, each 10MP.

The device also runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, with memory options of 12 or 16GB (LPDDR5X) and storage up to 1TB (UFS 4.0).

And the Ultra battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh, with support for 45W fast charging and wireless charging (20W according to previous leaks).

The Z Fold 8 Ultra supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, USB-C port, and IP48 rating, with four colors including Cream, Graphite, Green Shadow, and Violet Shadow.

Prices and availability date

Prices for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in Europe start from €1,999, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra reaches €2,199. According to leaks, there will be no free storage upgrade offers with pre-orders, and customers may bear half the price difference between capacities.

The phones are expected to be available in markets in early August 2026, as Samsung continues to develop the foldable device experience in the smartphone sector.
