Samsung is preparing to unveil the new generation of its foldable phones at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, as the past week saw a complete leak of the specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, along with official images confirming the design direction of both devices.

The device comes with a wider design than previous generations, with a main screen measuring 7.6 inches at 1848 x 2448 pixels resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio, along with an outer screen measuring 5.5 inches at 1248 x 1972 pixels resolution.

Both screens are Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The main rear camera is 50MP (F1.8), and an ultra-wide camera also 50MP (F1.9), and it has two front cameras of 10MP each, one per screen.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, and comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with higher options up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

The device supports 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a USB-C port.

Battery capacity is 4800 mAh with support for 45W fast charging, weighs 201 grams with an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance, and is available in four colors: Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and Pistachio.

The device features an outer screen of 6.5 inches (1080 x 2520 pixels) and a larger inner screen of 8 inches (2256 x 2504 pixels) with Dynamic AMOLED 2X support and a 120Hz refresh rate. The design is thinner, with a thickness of only 4.1mm when opened and weighs 218 grams.

The optical system here is stronger, with a 200MP main camera (OIS, F1.7), a 50MP ultra-wide lens (F1.9), and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and optical stabilization, and the front cameras are 2, each 10MP.

The device also runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, with memory options of 12 or 16GB (LPDDR5X) and storage up to 1TB (UFS 4.0).

The Z Fold 8 Ultra supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, USB-C port, and IP48 rating, in four colors including Cream, Graphite, Green Shadow, and Violet Shadow.

Prices and Availability

Prices for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in Europe start from 1999 euros, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra reaches 2199 euros. According to leaks, there will be no free storage upgrade offers with pre-orders, and customers may bear half the price difference between capacities.

The phones are expected to be available in markets starting August 2026, as Samsung continues to develop the foldable device experience in the smartphone sector.
