Huawei officially announced the launch date of its new Ascend 950DT AI chip, which will be deployed on the Huawei Cloud platform in August, with commercial expansion expected in the last quarter of this year.

This was announced during the 'INSPIRE Creators 2026' event, where Huawei Vice President Chen Lin stated that the new chip offers a leap in computing power compared to previous versions, with notable improvements in memory bandwidth and support for low-precision formats such as FP8.

The Ascend 950DT processor features easier programming, which helps simplify the tuning of intelligent models and facilitates its applications in smart driving scenarios. The company also noted that the chip will enhance performance and efficiency across a range of AI applications through cloud computing.

Huawei had previously launched the Ascend 950PR processor in March and used it in several solutions such as the Atlas 350 AI cluster. It also plans to introduce three new AI chips over the next three years to strengthen its position in China's smart chip industry.
