Huawei recorded a notable increase in global smartphone sales in the second quarter of 2026, according to recent data from Counterpoint.

Although the company did not enter the global top five, it ranked among the top ten after achieving a 6% increase in phone shipments compared to the same period last year.

This growth is mainly attributed to strong performance in the Chinese market, where the company continues to strengthen its offerings through flagship phones like the Mate 80 series, mid-range devices such as the Nova 15, and budget phones from the Enjoy 90 series.

According to the report, Samsung took the top spot globally with a market share of 24%, driven by the strong performance of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, particularly in AI and privacy features.

Apple maintained second place with a slight 3% increase in sales, bringing its share to 20%, boosted by sustained demand for the iPhone 17 series.

Companies like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo saw a slight decline in market share over the same period last year, while the report noted that both Google and Huawei were among the top companies recording actual shipment growth, with Google shipments up 16% and Huawei up 6% year-on-year.

Despite this performance, the report indicated that the global smartphone market still recorded a sales decline of about 11% in the second quarter of this year due to ongoing shortages of NAND and DRAM memory chips. Analysts expect the decline to continue, reaching 14% by the end of 2026 amid the global supply crisis, which may persist until 2027.
