He also revealed that the team abandoned its internal Cyllista engine in favor of Unreal Engine 5, a step aimed at delivering more realistic graphics and benefiting from the modern technologies that the engine offers.
Gameplay Development
Regarding gameplay, he explained that Project Awakening will adopt a slower and more realistic combat experience compared to Granblue Fantasy: Relink, with a focus on evasion, blocking, and delivering heavy blows, enhancing the tactical nature of encounters. He added that the game will rely on a diverse movement system that influences the course of battles, as the outcomes of executing the same combat set may vary depending on the environment and terrain, along with more dynamic behavior of enemies, who will be able to continue attacking the player even while on the ground. It is worth noting that the last actual appearance of the game was in 2018 with a gameplay showcase, before the studio confirmed in 2024 that work on the project was ongoing, now revealing new details indicating an acceleration in development without announcing a release date.
