The Jeddah Municipality has begun implementing improvement, development, and traffic congestion treatment works at the intersections of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road with King Fahd Road and Al-Makarona Road, as part of a project to implement traffic solutions to address congestion in Jeddah, aiming to enhance vehicle flow efficiency and achieve greater smoothness on one of the city's most vital axes.

The municipality explained that the project is part of the Quality of Life Program initiatives, one of the targets of Saudi Vision 2030, and includes implementing a set of engineering and traffic solutions aimed at increasing the road's capacity, improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, as well as developing the urban landscape of the two intersections to improve the general appearance and enhance the quality of the urban environment.

It indicated that the works include installing traffic signals to regulate traffic flow and improve traffic smoothness, as well as improving the entrances and exits connecting the main road and the service road to enhance traffic safety levels, increase movement efficiency, help address congestion points, and reduce waiting times.

Continuity of traffic flow

The municipality confirmed implementing the necessary traffic diversions to ensure the continuity of traffic flow and maintain public safety throughout the work period, noting that the project started on February 1, 2026, with a completion rate of 10%, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the third quarter of this year, with expectations that the pace of implementation will accelerate in the coming period according to the approved execution plan.

It reported that the two intersections serve Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road (Al-Tahliya) and central Jeddah, and are among the vital intersections that contribute to improving traffic flow on one of the city's most important main axes. Residents of the Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Safa, Al-Rihab, and Al-Aziziyah neighborhoods will benefit from the project.

The project is part of the Jeddah Municipality's plan to develop a number of priority intersections in the city, by implementing practical solutions that contribute to raising the efficiency of the road network, improving the mobility experience, and enhancing quality of life.
