Space tech startup StarCloud is developing orbital data centers to meet the growing demand for computing power needed to run AI applications.

The company says terrestrial data centers face growing challenges related to energy and emissions, prompting it to explore space as an alternative site powered by solar energy.

The company launched its first satellite, StarCloud 1, last November, equipped with an Nvidia H100 chip, stating that it has performed AI model training and inference operations in space.
