The General Authority of Civil Aviation signed a memorandum of understanding with Vertical Aerospace to establish the regulatory and operational foundations to enable the advanced air mobility (AAM) sector in the Kingdom.

A flexible regulatory environment that supports innovative aviation technologies and environmentally friendly aircraft.

The authority was represented at the signing by the Vice President of Air Transport and International Cooperation, Ali Rajab, while the company was represented by its CEO Stuart Simpson, during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 in the United Kingdom, in the presence of the authority's President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej.

The memorandum focuses on technical cooperation to certify the type certificate for the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, ensuring compliance with the highest safety and sustainability standards, in addition to exchanging expertise with international aviation authorities.

This cooperation is part of the authority's efforts to develop a flexible regulatory environment that supports innovative aviation technologies and environmentally friendly aircraft, and enhances the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub, in line with the targets of the aviation program and Saudi Vision 2030.

The airshow also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Second Airports Cluster Company and Vertical Aerospace to enable infrastructure solutions for eVTOL aircraft.
