Samsung Display announced the start of mass production of the world's first OLED panel for laptops certified with the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard, achieving a peak brightness of 1,600 nits in a small window of the screen, along with near-perfect black levels thanks to OLED technology.

The new panel utilizes two layers of organic light-emitting materials (tandem OLED), allowing for 40% higher brightness compared to traditional single-layer panels.

This technology also offers longer lifespan and higher power efficiency, which helps extend battery life while maintaining image quality.

The new screen offers a maximum brightness of 1,400 nits in a 10% window of the display area, and can reach up to 1,600 nits in smaller areas, according to the company's statement.

The screen debuts for the first time on the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition, which was officially certified with this standard on July 8, 2026.

Other companies such as ASUS, Dell, and MSI are expected to adopt this panel in their laptops during the second half of this year, while reports have hinted at the possibility of Samsung offering the same screen in the next generation of Galaxy Book laptops.

The new panel is scheduled to be publicly demonstrated for the first time at the K-Display 2026 event, hosted in Seoul, South Korea, from July 22 to 24.
