Sony today unveiled the new user interface coming with its PlayStation 5 (PS5) console on November 12; via a video explaining the major changes and differences compared to the PS4 user interface.

The first changes and fixes brought by the new interface is the "Control Center" menu, which can be accessed and used to access commands and settings while playing at any time by pressing the PlayStation button.

The player can view notifications, check friend connections, control music, and adjust console or controller settings easily, as well as view download status.

Meanwhile, the company added additional activity lists to the main card list, which are individual cards linked to game levels, stages, and custom game modes.

Simply pressing the card gives an overview of the game level, a report estimating the time needed to complete the level, and details about unfinished elements and objectives.

Similar to previous customizations, some games for PlayStation Plus subscribers will have a "Game Help" tab to assist players in completing tasks through hint videos that provide direct access to the goal.

The new PS5 interface also features some cards with "picture-in-picture" and split-screen capabilities, helping players view hints side by side while playing.

Sony expanded the group features on the PS5 by enabling game screen sharing among team members and the ability to pin live streaming windows of other team players on their screens.

Another important feature added by Sony is the integration of the PlayStation Store into the same interface software instead of being a separate app, making browsing and purchasing games and apps easier on the PlayStation 5.
