In a decisive move that settled the debate among content creators worldwide, YouTube has issued new and direct clarifications to its monetization policies, revealing the strict criteria that could lead to stopping earnings for channels that rely entirely on artificial intelligence.

The platform stressed that using the technology is not criminal in itself, but turning AI from a 'supporting tool' into a 'complete substitute for human creativity' will immediately end a video's eligibility for profit, classifying it under a new item called 'inauthentic content'.

The updates clarified that reviews will not be limited to a single video, but will cover the entire channel (most viewed videos, recent ones, and titles). YouTube identified 3 losing patterns that will officially lose ads:

Repetitive template content: Videos that rely on ready-made templates or identical texts produced by AI without adding opinion, analysis, or real experience from the channel owner.

Shock and sensational content: Clips that use misleading images or similar stories lacking context and substance only to attract views.

Fictional narrators in sensitive topics: Using AI-generated characters and claiming they are 'experts' in dangerous fields such as health, law, finance, and politics.

Does disclosing AI protect you?

The platform revealed a surprise: 'disclosing' the use of AI does not guarantee that your ads remain, nor does it automatically deprive you of them; the only criterion is having a 'human touch and added value'.

But on the other hand, YouTube warned that hiding and ignoring disclosure when dealing with sensitive issues such as elections, disasters, and health crises will lead to immediate strict penalties against the channel for misleading the public.

To ensure continued ad revenue, YouTube gave the following tips to content creators:

Make AI your servant, not your substitute: Use it for drafts, ideas, or thumbnails, but leave research, commentary, and the final touch to your personality.

Review your most viewed clips: Delete or modify any old video that falls under the repetitive automated content category.

Stay away from misleading titles: Ensure you provide unique answers and analyses that an automated program cannot easily generate.
