48°C in Mecca: Meteorology Warns of Severe Heat Wave and Dust Impeding Visibility in Several Areas Today
The National Center of Meteorology expects hot weather to continue today, Monday, with maximum temperatures remaining high over parts of the Eastern Province and the Mecca and Medina regions.
The center indicated that 48 degrees Celsius will be recorded in Mecca as the highest expected temperature, followed by 46 degrees in each of Riyadh, Medina, and Dammam.
Winds stirring dust and sand are active over parts of the Riyadh and Najran regions, extending to the eastern parts of Asir and Al Baha regions, and may lead to near-zero horizontal visibility on the coastal road leading to Jazan.
Marine forecasts
The center stated that surface winds over the Red Sea will be southwesterly to northwesterly at speeds ranging from 10 to 55 km/h, with wave heights between half a meter and two and a half meters, and sea state light to moderate.
In the Arabian Gulf, winds will be northwesterly to westerly at speeds between 10 and 40 km/h, with wave heights between half a meter and one and a half meters, and sea state light to moderate.
