Death toll rises.. Bangladesh floods inundate 7 regions, affect 1 million people
The death toll from floods and landslides caused by heavy monsoon rains in Bangladesh has risen to 51 dead and 39 injured, as the scale of the humanitarian disaster expands in several parts of the country.
Bangladeshi authorities said today that the floods have submerged vast areas in seven of the country's 64 administrative districts, affecting more than one million people, while many residents remain isolated due to rising water levels.

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief stated that the Cox's Bazar district recorded the highest death toll at 28, followed by Chattogram with 13 deaths, then Bandarban with six deaths, and Rangamati with three deaths.

One death was recorded in Moulvibazar. The districts of Habiganj and Khagrachhari, despite being affected by the floods, reported no fatalities. The ministry added that 38,422 people have been evacuated to temporary shelters, while emergency and relief teams continue their efforts to deal with the aftermath of the floods and provide aid to those affected.
