Floods and landslides caused by heavy monsoon rains have killed 44 people in southeastern Bangladesh and stranded more than a million people.

Bangladesh's disaster management ministry said floods have swept through seven districts, trapping about 267,918 households, while damaged roads and power and communication outages have slowed rescue and relief operations.

The ministry said army and navy teams are continuing to deliver food, water, and medicine by boat to isolated areas, amid severe difficulties in getting aid to those affected.
