Heavy rains flood homes and roads in Korea
Heavy rains fell on the greater Seoul area and Gangwon Province in eastern Korea overnight, causing flooding of homes and roads and resulting in about 540 reports of property damage.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters reported that the rainfall created a 20 cm deep layer of water on the ground in the Seoul area and Gangwon Province in eastern Korea between midnight and 10 a.m. today, according to the Yonhap news agency. Authorities received 148 reports of flooded homes and roads and 392 reports of fallen trees and other debris.
The central headquarters warned that heavy rains would continue until Sunday, with a 300 mm deep layer of water forming on the ground in some areas.
