Four children died by drowning on Tuesday in a water pool near the town of Aghchorguitt, part of the Alek district in the Brakna region, southern Mauritania.
Anadolu correspondent said that 4 children drowned in a water pool in the 'Tiyaret Al-Bayda' area, before their bodies were recovered, while Mauritanian authorities did not immediately comment on the incident.
The independent Mauritanian news site 'Al-Akhbar' quoted unnamed local sources as saying that the water pool was a hole left by the work of a company that was constructing a road in the area, and filled with heavy rainwater that the region witnessed on Monday.
Mauritania experiences a heavy rainy season between July and October each year, causing human and material losses.
