Al-Budaiwi Welcomes US Announcement of Starting Procedures to Remove Syria's Designation as State Sponsor of Terrorism
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, welcomed the United States of America's announcement of starting procedures to remove the designation of the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic as a state sponsor of terrorism, expressing his aspiration that this step would contribute to supporting international and regional efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in Syria.
He expressed hope that this step would serve as a catalyst for strengthening international cooperation with Syria, supporting its efforts to restore its regional and international standing, and pushing towards achieving its security, development, and prosperity.
He affirmed that the GCC renews its firm position supporting the unity of the Syrian Arab Republic, preserving its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and rejecting any interference in its internal affairs, stressing the importance of continuing these efforts aimed at ensuring a prosperous future for the brotherly Syrian people.
