Red Cross Continues Contacts with Sudan Conflict Parties to Finalize Prisoner Swap Deal

The International Committee of the Red Cross confirmed that it is continuing its contacts with the parties to the conflict in Sudan in order to finalize the arrangements related to the exchange of prisoners between the two sides.
The committee also revealed in a statement today that it has provided medical care and treatment to 850 wounded victims of military operations at the Al-Obeid Teaching Hospital since the beginning of this year. It renewed its call for the necessity of humane treatment of detainees, stressing the importance of strict compliance with international humanitarian law to protect civilians from harm and danger.
