Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed on Thursday the importance of reaching an end to the state of hostility with Israel after achieving all Lebanese demands.
During a meeting with a delegation at the Baabda Palace, Aoun stressed "the importance of reaching an end to the state of hostility with Israel, after achieving all Lebanese demands as soon as possible, so that the need for wars to break out ceases, and the state returns to fulfilling its duties and protecting everyone, and taking care of their interests instead of the sects and parties that used to undertake this task."
He added that "people's yearning for peace and living with dignity and security is their right," affirming that "the state's effort is currently focused on stopping the war and the language of fire that has accompanied Lebanon since 1969 until today, as a country that bears the consequences of all the developments and events that have occurred since that time and can no longer afford to pay such a price."
Aoun said that "the Lebanese want to live in a country that provides them with the minimum requirements for a decent life, and this is our duty towards this generation and future generations, especially the people of the south who have known nothing but wars, tragedies, and fear in recent decades."
The Lebanese president explained that "the choice adopted by the state is the best to achieve these goals, and it is the right of some to oppose it according to the democratic system, but they have not presented an alternative, especially since war has not succeeded in achieving the desired results."
