The Chairman of the Transport General Authority, Fawaz bin Zanaaf Al-Sahli, headed the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the 137th session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council meetings, held in the British capital London, as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance its presence in international maritime forums and support the development of the maritime transport sector.

The meetings discussed a number of strategic issues and topics related to improving the efficiency of the maritime sector, enhancing maritime navigation safety and security, and supporting international cooperation in this field.

Bilateral Meetings

On the sidelines of the meetings, the Chairman of the Transport General Authority held a number of bilateral meetings with officials from countries and international organizations, during which ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise were discussed, and the Kingdom’s most prominent achievements in developing the maritime sector were reviewed, in line with the targets of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The Authority affirmed that the Kingdom’s participation is an extension of its active role in the work of the International Maritime Organization, and its keenness to contribute to the development of maritime policies and enhance cooperation with countries and organizations, in a way that supports the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center and reinforces its commitment to international agreements and standards related to maritime transport safety, security, and sustainability.
