Funeral prayer was held in the Iranian city of Mashhad for the body of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on February 28 last.

Following a massive funeral procession organized for the late Khamenei in the city of Mashhad (northeast), the funeral prayer was held.

Mustafa Khamenei, the son of the late Supreme Leader, led the congregation in the funeral prayer for his father.

Political and military officials, along with clerics and tens of thousands of Iranian citizens, participated in the funeral prayer.

Ali Khamenei's body is scheduled to be buried in a special place inside the Imam Reza shrine in the city of Mashhad.

Khamenei, who ruled Iran for about 36 years, was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike that targeted him on the first day of the war on the country on February 28 last.
