Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues.
This came during a phone call between the two sides on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications.
The statement said Erdogan offered his congratulations to Sanchez on the Spanish national football team's World Cup victory.
Erdogan also expressed his deep appreciation for the joy of Palestinians in Gaza who watched the match amid the rubble following Spain's tournament victory.
He stressed that Spain's humanitarian and moral stance on the Palestinian issue resonated and was appreciated in the hearts of football fans around the world as well.
Erdogan expressed his gratitude for Sanchez's reception on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara on July 7-8 of this month.
He added that he would be pleased to host Sanchez again in Turkey at the beginning of 2027 on the occasion of the intergovernmental summit between Turkey and Spain.
