يتوجه رئيس الوزراء العراقي علي فالح الزيدي الخميس القادم، إلى العاصمة الإيرانية طهران، في أول محطة إقليمية بعد زيارته الأخيرة إلى الولايات المتحدة.

تحمل الزيارة مبادرة عراقية تسعى إلى المساهمة في احتواء التصعيد بين واشنطن وطهران وفتح مسار للحوار بين الطرفين، وسط تساؤلات بشأن قدرة بغداد على لعب دور الوسيط في أزمة تتداخل فيها ملفات الأمن والطاقة والبرنامج النووي والنفوذ الإقليمي.

وتأتي زيارة الزيدي بعد لقاء جمعه بالرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب في واشنطن، وبحث الطرفان تعزيز العلاقات الاقتصادية وجذب الاستثمارات الأمريكية إلى العراق، إلى جانب ملفات أمنية وسياسية.

وأفادت مصادر مطلعة بأن بغداد تسعى إلى استثمار علاقاتها المتوازنة مع الطرفين لتقديم نفسها كمنصة للحوار وليس كساحة للصراع.

وكان وزير الخارجية العراقي فؤاد حسين، أكد أن بغداد مستعدة للقيام بدور الوساطة بين إيران والولايات المتحدة، مشيراً إلى أن أي نقاش حول المبادرات السياسية أو الاقتصادية يتطلب أولاً وقف التصعيد، وأن الأولوية في المرحلة الحالية هي تهيئة الظروف للحوار.

وقال حسين إن العراق سبق أن لعب دوراً في تقريب وجهات النظر بين طهران وواشنطن، إلا أنه نفى أن تكون بغداد تحمل رسالة أمريكية إلى طهران، لكنها تستطيع نقل ما سمعته من آراء في واشنطن إلى جانب عرض موقفها العراقي.

وبحسب مصادر سياسية، فإن الزيدي سيطرح خلال زيارته إلى طهران إمكانية استضافة بغداد اجتماعاً يضم مسؤولين أمريكيين وإيرانيين، بصورة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة، بهدف تقريب وجهات النظر وفتح قنوات اتصال سياسية.

The Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi will head to the Iranian capital Tehran next Thursday, marking his first regional stop after his recent visit to the United States.

The visit carries an Iraqi initiative aimed at contributing to containing the escalation between Washington and Tehran and opening a dialogue pathway between the two sides, amidst questions about Baghdad's ability to play a mediating role in a crisis that intertwines security, energy, nuclear program, and regional influence issues.

The visit comes after a meeting he had with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, where both sides discussed enhancing economic relations and attracting American investments to Iraq, along with security and political issues.

Informed sources reported that Baghdad seeks to leverage its balanced relations with both sides to present itself as a platform for dialogue rather than a battleground for conflict.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed that Baghdad is ready to play a mediating role between Iran and the United States, noting that any discussion regarding political or economic initiatives requires first a cessation of escalation, and that the priority at this stage is to create conditions for dialogue.

Hussein stated that Iraq has previously played a role in bridging viewpoints between Tehran and Washington, but he denied that Baghdad carries a U.S. message to Tehran; however, it can convey what it has heard in Washington alongside presenting its Iraqi stance.

According to political sources, Al-Zaydi will propose during his visit to Tehran the possibility of hosting a meeting in Baghdad that includes American and Iranian officials, either directly or indirectly, with the aim of bridging viewpoints and opening political communication channels.
