Leaders and officials mourn former emir of Qatar
Arab leaders and officials on Sunday mourned with deep sorrow and grief the passing of former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who died in the morning at the age of 74.
President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourned the former emir, saying: "Sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and to the brotherly Qatari people on the death of the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani."
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said in a post on his account on the "X" platform: "Sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to my brother Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and to the brotherly Qatari people on the death of the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. We ask God to envelop him in His vast mercy, to grant him a place in His spacious paradise, and to inspire his honorable family and the brotherly Qatari people with patience and solace."
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to the State of Qatar, its emir, government, and people, on the death of the father emir, wishing Qatar and its people continued security and stability.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed his "pain and grief over the death of the former emir of Qatar, whose passing constitutes a great loss for sisterly Qatar, Lebanon, and the Arab world."
Aoun said that "Lebanon, president and people, recalls with all appreciation and loyalty the sincere brotherly positions expressed by the great deceased towards it, especially during the Israeli aggression in July 2006, when Qatar under his leadership stood by Lebanon in one of its darkest moments and contributed to alleviating the suffering of its people."

Al-Azhar affirmed in a statement that Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb recalled the contributions of the father emir in serving the State of Qatar, his role in supporting the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations, as well as his support for humanitarian and development initiatives, and his efforts in establishing the foundations of Qatar's modern renaissance and promoting dialogue and rapprochement among peoples.
Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby extended sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, to the honorable family, and to the government and people of the State of Qatar, on the death of the father emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away.
Elaraby pointed to his prominent role in supporting the march of joint Arab action, enhancing Arab solidarity, and serving Arab and Islamic causes.
For his part, Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh offered sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and to the State of Qatar and its people on the death of the father emir.
Also, Hussein Al-Sheikh, the Palestinian deputy president, extended sincere sympathy and condolences to Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to the Qatari leadership and the brotherly Qatari people, on the death of the father emir, describing the deceased as of good memory and possessing human and national values and principles, asking God Almighty to envelop him in His vast mercy, grant him a place in His spacious paradise, and inspire his honorable family and the Qatari people with beautiful patience and good consolation.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said he received with deep sorrow and grief the news of the death of the father emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and offered condolences and sympathy to the Emir of Qatar, to the honorable family of the deceased, and to the Qatari people.
World leaders
Turkish Anadolu Agency quoted President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying in a message posted on his account on the Turkish social media platform: "I received with deep sadness the news of the death of my very dear friend, the father emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani."
He added: "I pray to God Almighty for mercy for Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, with whom I worked on the international stage during my tenure as prime minister, and who had a great contribution to bringing political, trade, military, humanitarian, and cultural relations between Turkey and Qatar to their current level, and I personally witnessed his sincere efforts for the peace of the Islamic world, the stability of our region, and the welfare of the Qatari people."
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his sincere condolences on the death of the father emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, affirming his remembrance of his insightful leadership and valuable contributions to the development of the State of Qatar.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the father emir, saying he was a visionary leader who led Qatar to high levels of development and prosperity, and extended sincere condolences to the Emir of Qatar and to all members of the royal family and the Qatari people.
For his part, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim offered warm condolences to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari royal family, and the people of the State of Qatar on the death of the father emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
