The African Union Peace and Security Council affirmed that the Skhirat Agreement constitutes a credible basis and framework for reaching a lasting political solution to the Libyan crisis.
The Council explained, in a statement issued after its meeting on the situation in Libya, that the Libyan Political Agreement signed in Skhirat on December 17, 2015, along with various initiatives carried out under the auspices of the United Nations and arising from a comprehensive reconciliation process among Libyan parties, forms the reliable basis and framework for achieving a sustainable political solution to the Libyan crisis.

It called on all relevant Libyan parties to renew their commitment to these frameworks and accelerate the implementation of the National Peace and Reconciliation Charter as an integral part of efforts to strengthen state institutions, achieve their reunification, and consolidate social cohesion.
