Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned Britain's efforts to designate the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization, calling them an 'irresponsible' act.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday regarding the British moves concerning the Revolutionary Guards.
The statement said that Britain's attempts to list Iran's Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization contradict the fundamental principles of the United Nations.
It stressed that the Revolutionary Guards are 'an integral part of Iran's official armed forces, playing a crucial role in defending the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.'
The Iranian Foreign Ministry viewed the British efforts, which come amid US and Israeli attacks on Iran and at a 'sensitive' stage in West Asia, as 'reflecting ill intentions and having a provocative nature.'
On Monday, UK Minister of State for Security at the Home Office, Angela Eagle, announced in a memorandum presented to Parliament the initiation of procedures to designate three foreign entities as terrorist organizations.
She stated that these entities are Iran's Revolutionary Guards, the volunteer unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff, as well as the group 'Islamic Movement of Righteous Friends,' which is believed to be acting under Iran's direction.
