Iran informed the UN Security Council that the US attacks constitute a 'clear violation' of the UN Charter and the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.
This was stated in two separate letters sent by Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations to the President of the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General.
The mission said in its letters: 'The United States, which clearly violates the UN Charter and its international obligations, has once again launched large-scale military attacks against Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity.'
It added that the US attacks represent a clear violation of Article 2, paragraph 4 of the UN Charter, and a fundamental violation of Article 1 of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.
On Thursday, the United States announced strikes against Iran for the second day, while Tehran said it responded with missile attacks on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that US forces 'targeted approximately 90 Iranian military targets, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along the Iranian coast.'
Iran's Ministry of Health announced that 14 people were killed and 78 injured as a result of the US attacks over the past two days.
