China Central Television reported that President Xi Jinping called for maximum efforts in disaster relief and mitigation.
Bloomberg News reported that Xi Jinping stressed the need to provide medical treatment to the injured and properly relocate affected citizens.
Bloomberg quoted Xi Jinping as saying that recent heavy rains and strong winds caused landslides and water reservoir collapses in Guangxi, Hubei, and Gansu, resulting in significant human and economic losses.
The Chinese president called for comprehensive efforts in rescue operations, treatment of the injured, and relocation of affected residents to reduce casualties and prevent secondary disasters.
Premier Li Qiang, for his part, instructed authorities to closely monitor rainfall and flood conditions.
