The death toll from massive floods caused by heavy monsoon rains in the state of Assam, located in northeastern India, has risen to 41.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the death toll had risen to 41, confirming that all authorities are working around the clock on relief and rescue operations in the state.

He pointed out that the authorities have set up about 150 relief camps, sheltering about 30,000 people in the state, and that 900,000 people in more than 1,800 villages have been affected by the floods.
