Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani discussed on Saturday with Qatari Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Muhammad bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The Syrian news agency SANA reported that al-Shibani received al-Khulaifi and his accompanying delegation at Tishreen Palace in the capital Damascus.

It added that the two sides discussed "ways of cooperation in various fields and enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries."

Al-Khulaifi's visit to Damascus, the duration of which has not been announced, comes less than a week after al-Shibani met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in the capital Doha.

Relations between Qatar and Syria have witnessed increasing momentum since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, through the exchange of official visits between officials of the two countries and discussions on reconstruction, economic cooperation, and support for the transitional phase.
