Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed the importance of completing the implementation of the requirements of the first phase of US President Donald Trump's plan regarding Gaza.

He also emphasized the importance of adhering to the rules of international law governing the use of transboundary water resources.

This came during a meeting between the Egyptian Foreign Minister and his US counterpart Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting held in the Philippine capital Manila, where the meeting discussed ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries and reviewed developments in regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The two ministers affirmed the importance of building on what has been achieved within the framework of the extended strategic partnership between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in various political, economic, and investment fields to achieve the common interests of the two friendly peoples and contribute to supporting regional security and stability.

The two sides exchanged views on developments in the Middle East, foremost the Palestinian issue, where Abdelatty affirmed the importance of completing the implementation of the requirements of the first phase of the US President's plan, ensuring full and unimpeded access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, expediting the start of work of the committee responsible for managing the sector, quickly deploying the international stability force, as well as stopping Israeli violations in the West Bank, to help contain escalation and create an atmosphere for restoring security and stability in the region.

The meeting also discussed developments in the Iranian file and efforts to de-escalate and adhere to the memorandum of understanding signed between the US and Iranian sides, and the resumption of negotiations to reach a final agreement between the two sides.

The meeting touched upon developments in the Horn of Africa region, where Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of maintaining the security and stability of the region, supporting national state institutions, respecting their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and rejecting any measures or policies that would undermine regional stability.

Regarding the water security file, Minister Abdelatty affirmed the importance of adhering to the rules of international law governing the use of transboundary water resources, to achieve the interests of all Nile Basin countries and reject any unilateral measures.

The two sides expressed their aspiration to continue the pace of coordination and consultation in the coming period, reflecting the strength of the strategic partnership between the two countries and enhancing their ability to address various regional and international challenges. They also affirmed the importance of continued joint work to support regional and international security and stability, achieving the common interests of the two friendly countries.

US President Donald Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip mainly stipulates an immediate end to the war if both sides of the conflict agree to it.

The plan consists of twenty points approved by Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and stipulates that the Gaza Strip be disarmed and governed by a Palestinian committee with international experts, without any role for Hamas.
