As the Iranian news agency confirmed the sound of 4 violent explosions east of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran, US President Donald Trump officially informed Congress today (Monday) of the resumption of military operations in Iran.

Trump sent a letter to Congressional leaders, confirming that US forces conducted defensive strikes against targets inside Iran on July 7.

The US President said in remarks: 'We have the strongest army in the world and you see that in Iran. Iran has been imposing its will on others for 47 years but it cannot do that with us. We are the ones imposing our will on Iran, not the other way around.'

Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech to the nation next Thursday evening, as he announced, but he did not specify the topic of the upcoming speech.

Trump wrote on his platform 'Truth Social': 'The speech will be at 9:00 PM Eastern Time, i.e., 1:00 AM Friday GMT.'

The US President had announced that the Strait of Hormuz is open and will remain open, with or without Iran's participation, stressing the reactivation of the blockade on Iran, which he said only aims to prevent Iranian ships or those of its agents from entering or exiting.

He indicated that all other countries will have fair and open use of the strait, noting that the United States will henceforth be known as the 'Guardian of the Strait of Hormuz.'

On the other hand, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported that explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas in southern Iran. It clarified that the nature of the explosions is unknown, while Iranian television said that the sound of 4 explosions was heard east of the city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran.
