Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Wednesday that his country continues to focus on the path to ending the war in Ukraine.
This came in statements to journalists at the train station in the Polish city of Przemyśl before heading to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.
Fidan explained that he would pay an official visit to Ukraine during which he would meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and a number of senior officials, as part of Turkish efforts aimed at supporting diplomatic efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
He noted that Turkey hosted rounds of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul last year.
He expressed his belief that his visit would make a positive contribution to ongoing efforts.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been waging a military attack on its neighbor Ukraine, demanding that Kyiv abandon joining Western military entities to end it, which Kyiv considers "interference" in its affairs.
