French parliamentarians approved on Tuesday a ban on social media for children under 15, making France the first country in the European Union to adopt a comprehensive ban on platforms for minors, as global concern grows over the harmful effects of digital content on children.

Both chambers of parliament approved the measure on Tuesday, a key initiative of President Emmanuel Macron in his second term.
