Funeral prayer held for Khamenei and several family members
(CNN) -- Many mourners carried the coffin of the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, out of the Khomeini prayer hall during the funeral ceremony held in Tehran on Sunday morning.
The funeral prayer was performed over loudspeakers in front of the crowds, who in turn chanted prayers, and some attendees were seen wiping their tears with tissues in a live broadcast of the scene carried by Reuters.
Then Khamenei's coffin, alongside other coffins, was placed on a raised platform at the funeral prayer site, where a smaller coffin was placed on top of the others. Iranian state media reported that the religious authority Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani led the funeral prayer for Khamenei.
Funeral prayers were also held for Mesbah al-Huda Bagheri Kani, Boshra Khamenei, and Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani, according to Iran's official news agency IRNA.
Photos published by state media showed officials standing in a row in front of the coffin, including Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, the commander of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard, who was among those in the front row.
