German police arrested a large number of people during a protest demonstration organized in the Wedding district of the capital Berlin against the company 'Rheinmetall', which produces ammunition for Israel.
Thousands of people gathered at the Gesundbrunnen metro station under the slogan 'Wedding without weapons... together against war', protesting against the company 'Rheinmetall', which has a factory in the Wedding district, and against Germany supplying weapons to Israel.
Before the demonstration started, participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the genocide committed by the Serbs in the city of Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, which resulted in the killing of 8,372 Bosnian civilians, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the massacre.
After that, protesters marched towards the area where the Rheinmetall factory is located, carrying banners reading: 'Weapons don't kill people, Rheinmetall kills people', 'You have to call a killer a killer', 'Rheinmetall, get out of Wedding', and 'Stop the genocide'.
Protesters also raised other banners bearing phrases: 'No alliance with genocide', 'Protect Gaza', and 'No profits from genocide'.
During the demonstration, participants chanted slogans such as: 'Freedom for Palestine', 'Freedom for Palestine', 'Germany provides weapons and Israel kills', and 'The only solution is resistance... the intifada is resistance'.
The demonstration witnessed tight security measures, as police intervened to disperse protesters and arrested a large number of them.
