Terrifying bison attack in America's Yellowstone: Witness photographer reveals to CNN what happened
A terrifying clip went viral on social media over the weekend, showing a 65-year-old man being attacked by an American bison in Yellowstone National Park.
Social media users circulated a shocking video documenting an American bison attacking a 65-year-old man inside Yellowstone National Park over the weekend.
Bison attacks in national parks are rare but sometimes occur when the animal feels threatened.
The man is currently recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery, following the bison attack on Friday, where it hurled him forcefully into the air.
The victim said he was walking with his grandson at least 100 yards from the site of the bison's frenzy. He added that someone in a nearby car honked their horn, apparently trying to move the massive animal, at which point the bison charged him, causing multiple fractures.
The American bison remains a powerful animal that must be handled with extreme caution. Park management reminds visitors to maintain a safe distance of at least 25 yards from large animals. This incident once again highlights the importance of adhering to safety guidelines in national parks.
