(CNN)-- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi revealed on Saturday that his country received representatives from over 70 countries during the funeral of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Araghchi wrote on X: 'Iran is pleased to have received representatives from more than seventy countries who chose to participate in honoring our martyred Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, including our loyal Arab brothers.'

He added: 'This historic commemoration will remain an everlasting memory in the course of our common relations.'

Official delegations from Gulf countries participated in the memorial ceremony held in the capital Tehran on Friday.

The funeral ceremonies of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei continue for several days, with his body to be buried in the shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad, one of the holiest cities for Shia Muslims, and the city where he was born.

The funeral procession is scheduled to be held in the capital Tehran on July 6.

Additional ceremonies will be held on July 7 in Qom, on July 8 in Najaf and Karbala, and on July 9 in Mashhad, which is considered the spiritual capital of Shia Muslims in Iran.
