JERUSALEM (AA)

Israeli sources indicated Wednesday that a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump is expected at the White House next Monday.

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted unnamed Israeli sources as predicting that the meeting between Netanyahu and Trump would take place in Washington on Monday.

No immediate official announcement was issued by the White House or the Israeli Prime Minister's Office regarding the date and location of the meeting.

Recently, Israeli media reported that Netanyahu plans to travel to the United States next Saturday evening.

They stated that during his visit, Netanyahu will attend the memorial service for the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, known for his support of Israel.

Last week, Netanyahu and Trump agreed during a phone call to hold a 'near' meeting, without setting a specific date.

The expected meeting on Monday comes a day before a scheduled meeting between Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House on Tuesday.

These anticipated diplomatic moves come at the conclusion of the second and final day of Rome negotiations between Lebanon and Israel under US auspices.

The discussions addressed the mechanism for implementing the 'framework agreement' signed between the two countries on June 26, 2026, and the timeline for the sequence of the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, according to a senior Lebanese official source to Anadolu.

Five rounds of negotiations had previously been held between Beirut and Tel Aviv in Washington.

Israel continues its aggression on Lebanon, which began on March 2, 2026, and has resulted in 4,324 deaths and 12,223 injuries, as well as the displacement of more than one million people, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

Israel occupies areas in southern Lebanon, some for decades and others since the previous war between 2023 and 2024, and has advanced more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory during the current aggression.
