Follow the story: Arab and international condemnations of Houthi targeting of Saudi ship in Red Sea... and calls to protect navigation and hold perpetrators accountable

Political writer Dr. Aayed Al-Manna confirmed that the international community bears responsibility for confronting any aggression targeting neighboring countries, calling for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 against the Houthi group, in comments on the targeting of the Saudi ship ENCELIA while sailing in the Red Sea.

Al-Manna said, in statements on Al-Ekhbariya channel, that 'the international community is responsible for taking on the task of cutting off the hand that extends with evil to all neighboring countries.'

He added that 'the international community is required to implement Security Council Resolution 2216 by obliging the Houthi group to cease violence, withdraw their forces from areas they have seized including the capital Sanaa, and hand over weapons, as the resolution imposed an arms embargo and sanctions including asset freezes and travel bans against prominent individuals.'

Al-Manna also called on the international community to 'mobilize forces to defend legitimacy and peaceful societies, just as it defended Kuwait when it was invaded.'

His statements came after a responsible source in the General Authority of Transport announced that the ship ENCELIA, belonging to one of the Kingdom's companies, was targeted while sailing in the Red Sea, resulting in a fire breaking out at the front of the ship.

The source confirmed the safety of all crew members, noting that the relevant authorities took all necessary measures to secure the ship and its crew, in addition to protecting the marine environment.
