Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said that the United States' renewed violation of the memorandum of understanding has once again proven to everyone the worthlessness of the US president's signature.

This came in a post on his social media accounts on Saturday.

Khamenei reiterated describing the United States as the 'Great Satan', considering that the renewed violation of the agreement once again proved to everyone the fact that the US president's signature is worthless and void.

He explained that 'arrogance and brutality are integral parts of the American mentality.'

Khamenei pointed out that the Iranian people will continue to trust the heads of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, and will remain in the field to protect national interests.

He stressed the importance of maintaining unity and solidarity in the country.

Khamenei added that the United States must realize that if it continues 'instigating war', Iran and the 'Axis of Resistance' will teach it unforgettable lessons.

He considered that the operations carried out by the Iranian armed forces in recent days are an example of that.

For about a week, the United States has been launching successive waves of strikes on sites inside Iran, while Tehran responds with attacks on sites and bases it says are US military in a number of countries in the region.

On June 18, 2026, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a cessation of military operations and the start of negotiations to reach a broader agreement.

But US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 that the interim agreement had ended after the targeting of three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting Washington to resume its strikes inside Iran amid escalating Iranian responses.

Washington demands ensuring freedom of navigation and its security in the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate the passage of ships through the strategic waterway, exacerbating fears of disruption of oil and gas exports from the region.
