(CNN)-- Latifa al-Daroubi, wife of Syrian transitional president Ahmad al-Sharaa, offered condolences to Sheikha Moza bint Nasser on the death of her husband, the 'Father Emir', former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

During her visit to Doha on Wednesday, Latifa al-Daroubi expressed her 'sincere condolences and sympathy to Sheikha Moza, the ruling family, and the brotherly Qatari people, praying to Almighty God to encompass the deceased with His vast mercy and forgiveness, and to grant him a place in His spacious paradise, and to inspire his family and relatives with patience and solace,' according to the Syrian news agency SANA.

Ahmad al-Sharaa had earlier offered condolences in Doha to Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the death of the Father Emir.

The Qatari Amiri Diwan announced on Sunday the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of the country, at the age of 74.

Sheikha Moza mourned her husband, the Father Emir, in a post on her official account on X platform, formerly Twitter, saying: 'In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful... (O soul at peace, return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing. Enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise.) God Almighty has spoken the truth... I draw from grief its greatest and from sorrow its deepest with the departure of Qatar's historic leader, His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him and grant him a blessed resting place... And in a moment of humility before the will of the Almighty in decreeing destinies, the great departed rises to an eternal status as the pioneer of modern Qatar and the maker of its glories... And with a broken heart, I beseech God Almighty to envelop the departed with His mercy and grant him a place in His spacious paradise... Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.'
