Lebanese President Departs for Washington to Meet Donald Trump
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun left Beirut this morning, Saturday, heading to Washington in response to an invitation from US President Donald Trump.
A Lebanese-American summit will be held at the White House. The Lebanese president will also hold meetings and consultations with a number of American officials covering the situation in Lebanon and the ways to consolidate the ceasefire, restore security and stability to Lebanon in general and the south in particular, secure Israel's withdrawal from the Lebanese areas it occupies, and extend state authority over all regions.
The Lebanese president had earlier considered that the formula of the framework agreement with Israel represents 'the best possible,' pointing out that the Lebanon file is now on Trump's table.

Aoun said before a delegation from the 'Orthodox Gathering': 'The framework formula is the best possible, and it has started to yield its effects. Washington is now listening to us, and the Lebanon file is on the US president's table.'
He added: 'Our goals are clear, and we will not be lenient regarding Lebanon's rights. The right to differ is legitimate, not disagreement. Dialogue among Lebanese must be under the ceiling of national interest, not to prioritize personal interests.'
