Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived Tuesday in the capital Doha to offer condolences on the death of former Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

At Hamad International Airport, President Erdogan was received by Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman bin Hassan Al Thani.

Accompanying the Turkish president to offer condolences was his wife, Amina Erdogan.

President Erdogan will offer his condolences to Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the death of his father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

On Sunday, Qatar buried the body of Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani at Lusail Cemetery, with the participation of the Emir, members of the ruling family, and senior officials.

The Emiri Diwan had announced on Sunday morning the death of the former emir at the age of 74.

The former emir took over the rule of Qatar in 1995, before handing over power on June 25, 2013 to his then-crown prince, Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
