Ukrainian officials reported that a Russian ballistic missile attack in the Kyiv region of Ukraine killed 10 people and injured about 100 others on Friday, at a site where a defense industry event was being held, according to Reuters.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said efforts are underway to determine the circumstances of the incident, indicating that a rescue operation is currently underway in the Kyiv region following the Russian missile attack.

For his part, Ruslan Oliinyk, acting governor of the Kyiv region, explained that preliminary information indicates that a ballistic missile targeted a special training ground where a defense industry exhibition was being held.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Industry Council said a missile struck a site where representatives of the industry were present. The council added that it is not among the organizers of the exhibition, and the exact location was not announced.

In another context, a White House official said today that President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Washington next Tuesday.

An Ukrainian source said Zelenskiy is looking forward to traveling to the United States, but his team is awaiting official confirmation from the White House regarding Trump's schedule.
