The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that its forces launched new attacks on the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk in southern Ukraine, justifying the attack by saying the two sites were used for military purposes.
The ministry said in a statement on the operations of the Russian army in Ukraine that the armed forces launched an overnight attack using high-precision weapons and drones.
It claimed that the attack targeted infrastructure facilities and tanks used to transport fuel and oils at the port of Odesa, and a container ship loaded with ammunition at the port of Chornomorsk.
It added that the attack also targeted a ship transporting cargo for the Ukrainian army in the Snake Island area in the southwest of the country, and a Neptune-2 missile launch system near the town of Rybakivka (south).
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry had announced in recent days attacks on defense industry facilities in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, and ports in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
Russia has been conducting a military attack on its neighbor Ukraine since February 24, 2022, demanding that Kyiv abandon joining Western military entities as a condition for ending it, which Kyiv considers 'interference' in its affairs.
